Fractional Co-Founder — Sales & Marketing (North America)

LeadershipOttawa, Ontario / Remote within Canada or the USPart-time to start · Equity + Commission · Path to Full-Time Co-Founder

AIRIS Dynamics is a Canadian AI/ML and robotics company founded by an engineer with roughly twenty years in software architecture, AI, and technology development. The technology is already built and demonstrable — four AI, computer vision, and robotics products spanning intelligent robotics, computer vision, automation, and AI-powered customer interaction, with opportunities across restaurants and food service, retail, physical security, industrial operations, healthcare, automotive dealerships, enterprise, and government. What's missing is a commercial co-founder: someone with genuine entrepreneurial ambition who wants to help build and own the commercial side of the company, not take a traditional sales position. Your job is to help determine where AIRIS should focus first, validate that opportunity with real customers, build the go-to-market strategy, and turn early conversations into pilots, LOIs, and commercial contracts. AIRIS is pre-revenue and founder-funded, so this starts part-time (roughly 20–25 hours a week) with founding-level equity and commission on deals you close, moving to full-time co-founder once we achieve meaningful commercial traction.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate our target markets and identify the strongest initial beachhead
  • Choose where we should focus first — and where we should deliberately say no
  • Develop and validate pricing, packaging, positioning, and go-to-market strategy
  • Build our outbound sales pipeline from the ground up
  • Identify target customers and decision makers
  • Conduct outreach, discovery calls, product presentations, and negotiations
  • Take opportunities from first conversation through pilot, LOI, and commercial contract
  • Build relationships across restaurants, retail, security, industrial, healthcare, dealerships, enterprise, and public-sector markets
  • Develop strategic partnerships with integrators, resellers, distributors, OEMs, and technology partners
  • Explore government and public-sector procurement opportunities where appropriate
  • Identify and pursue RFPs, standing offers, vendor registrations, and other procurement channels
  • Own sales messaging, positioning, presentations, proposals, and commercial collateral
  • Shape marketing strategy across website, content, LinkedIn, SEO, events, partnerships, and targeted campaigns
  • Establish a practical CRM, pipeline, forecasting, and sales process
  • Provide a clear weekly assessment of pipeline, opportunities, obstacles, and traction
  • As the company gains traction, build and lead the sales and marketing organization

What We're Looking For

  • Genuine entrepreneurial ambition and a desire to become a co-owner of the company — not someone looking for a traditional part-time sales position
  • 7+ years of B2B technology sales experience in North America
  • Proven record of personally closing technology deals, preferably involving 3–12 month sales cycles
  • Existing relationships or a strong professional network in at least one relevant market: restaurants/food service, retail, physical security, industrial operations, healthcare, automotive/dealerships, enterprise technology, municipal or public-sector organizations, government procurement, or defence and security
  • Comfortable building a sales pipeline from zero
  • Able to sell technical products and explain complex technology to non-technical decision makers
  • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where the strategy is still being validated
  • Available approximately 20–25 hours per week initially
  • Based in Canada or the United States and legally able to work there

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field
  • MBA or equivalent business experience
  • Experience selling AI, robotics, computer vision, SaaS, automation, security technology, or enterprise technology
  • Canadian federal or provincial procurement experience
  • Experience building reseller, distributor, integrator, or channel partnerships
  • Hands-on experience with positioning, content, SEO, paid marketing, demand generation, or events
  • Professional working English and French
  • Experience taking a company from zero customers to its first 10 customers
  • Experience working with startups or early-stage technology companies

Why Work With Us

Join a team building the future of artificial intelligence

Founding-Level Equity

Meaningful equity in AIRIS Dynamics with a standard four-year vesting structure, plus additional equity opportunities tied to future revenue milestones and the transition to full-time co-founder.

Commission From the First Deal

Cash commission on qualified deals you personally close, beginning with the company's first revenue.

Full Commercial Ownership

Significant autonomy over sales, marketing, partnerships, pricing, and go-to-market strategy, working directly with the founder on company direction, product, and technology.

Technology Already Exists

You're not joining with only an idea or a pitch deck. AIRIS has demonstrable AI, computer vision, and robotics technology that can be taken to customers and validated in real-world environments.

Multiple Markets, One Core Technology

AIRIS is building technology adaptable across restaurants, retail, security, industrial operations, healthcare, dealerships, and government. You'll help decide which problems we solve first and how we build the company around the technology.

Build It Together

Start part-time while keeping your current commitments, establish early commercial traction, then move into a full-time co-founder role as the business grows.

Who This Is Really For

This opportunity is for someone who looks at an early-stage technology company and thinks:

“The technology is there. The market opportunities are there. Let me figure out where we can win and build the business around it.”

You should be comfortable with uncertainty, experimentation, rejection, and starting with a blank sheet of paper. If you're looking for a traditional salaried sales role, this isn't it. If you're looking for the opportunity to help build a company from the ground up, shape its commercial strategy, and own a meaningful part of what you create, let's talk.
